The Department of Environment and Natural Resources strengthened its partnership with the Rotary Club of Pampanga to advance forest restoration and environmental conservation through a tree-growing initiative at the Sta. Rita Eco Park.
As part of the collaboration, the DENR Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Pampanga provided 500 narra (ππ΅π¦π³π°π€π’π³π±πΆπ΄ πͺπ―π₯πͺπ€πΆπ΄) seedlings and technical assistance to support the planting activity, reinforcing ongoing efforts to expand forest cover, restore degraded areas, and promote environmental sustainability in the province.
Personnel from the National Greening Program (NGP) of PENRO Pampanga guided members of Rotary International District 3790 Cluster 4-A on proper tree planting techniques, including site assessment, species selection, and appropriate planting methods to help ensure the healthy establishment and long-term survival of the seedlings.
PENRO Pampanga Provincial Head Roger Encarnacion underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between the DENR and civic organizations in advancing environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation.
“PENRO Pampanga remains committed to supporting tree-growing and forest restoration initiatives by providing quality planting materials and technical assistance to partner institutions and communities,” Encarnacion said.
Meanwhile, DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo emphasized that lasting environmental gains are achieved through strong partnerships among government agencies, civic organizations, communities, and the private sector.
He said collaborative efforts toward the conservation and sustainable management of Central Luzon’s natural resources not only help restore ecosystems but also strengthen environmental stewardship and shared responsibility in addressing the impacts of climate change.
More than 150 participants, including Rotary Club members, partner organizations, volunteers, and other stakeholders, took part in the activity.
