Ayon kay Castro, ang Makata Cup Season 3 ay mas pinalaki, pinaganda at pinakamasayang paliga sa lalawigan ngayon. Nabatid na ang mga manlalaro ay magtatagisan ng husay at galing sa larangan ng basketball sa mga kategoryang Below 25 years old, 26 to 39 years old at 40-year old and above. Sa ginanap na opening ceremony ay dumalo bilang guest of honor si San Juan Mayor at President ng League of the Cities of the Philippines Francis Zamora. Sinabi ni Castro na malaking cash prize ang naghihintay sa tatanghaling kampeon sa nasabing palaro sa tulong na rin at suporta ni Governor Daniel Fernando. Unang naitatag ang Makata Cup bilang inter-barangay sa bayan ng Balagtas sa tulong ni noon ay Mayor Eladio Gonzales Jr. na siyang founder nito. Tatangkain naman ng Marilao at San Jose Del Monte teams na mapanatili sa kanila ang titulo bilang mga defending champions sa magkaibang dibision.
