Troops secure disaster area, haul relief goods

FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – The 91st Infantry (Sinagtala) Battalion (91IB) of the Philippine Army’s 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division (7ID) has deployed personnel to assist the local government unit (LGU) of Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija in security and relief efforts in areas devastated by Typhoon Paeng on Sunday, October 30, 2022.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Julito B. Recto Jr., Commander of 91IB, stated that he deployed personnel from Alpha Company, 91IB, 7ID, PA, led by Technical Sergeant Shane Gregorio, to provide manpower and security assistance in the hauling and distribution of food packs in Barangay Tagumpay, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija.

 

A total of 200 food packs were distributed to the affected families in the area by the personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Gabaldon together with Vice Mayor Victorino B. Sabino and assisted by troops.

 

Recto stated that it is part of their humanitarian mission, and that the 91st IB will never stop assisting the LGU in reaching out to the people. “We will continue our mandate to help and assist in ensuring peace and order; and providing much needed services to our people especially in this trying time when basic resources such as food, water, fuel, and even electricity are scarce.” Let us embody the Bayanihan spirit to its fullest. “Wherever assistance is required, Philippine Army will be there at all times,” Recto concluded.

 

Meanwhile, Major General Andrew D. Costelo, Commander of 7ID, reiterates that the Division, through its line units, is always ready to provide manpower and logistical assistance, including humanitarian assistance and disaster response, in order to expedite the delivery of government services to communities affected by disasters.
