Heavy rains overflow Marilao river, Angat Dam water level still recedes

BULACAN — The adjacent villages to the Marilao River have temporarily experienced flooding after the water here overflowed due to heavy rains on Saturday night, however, it failed to raise the water elevation of Angat Dam.

As of 6:00AM on Sunday (June 14), data from the Provincial Disaster Risk Management Office (PDRRMO) of Bulacan showed that the water elevation of Angat Dam was at 167.80 meter (M) compared to the previous day”s 168.10 M that is lower by 0.30 M or 30 centimeters.

The drop in the dam’s water elevation was recorded despite the scattered heavy rain showers experienced in the different parts of Bulacan on Saturday night.

On the other hand, Marilao Mayor Jem Sy has confirmed in a text message that the Marilao  River overflowed on Saturday night forcing several residents to seek shelter in an evacuation center.

However, the flood caused by the river overflow subsided a few hours later and the evacuees eventually returned to their homes.
