AC to provide free flu, pneumonia vax for 13,000 senior citizens

ANGELES CITY — The city government here under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. continues to prioritize the health of the elderly, as it will administer free anti-flu and anti-pneumonia vaccines to 13,000 senior citizens beginning on October 18, 2023.
 
Mayor Lazatin already ordered the City Health Office led by Dr. Verona Guevarra with the Gender and Development Office headed by Mina Cabiles, and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office headed by Rodolfo Simeon to fast-track the vaccinations of the seniors, by simultaneously conducting it at the city’s six Rural Health Units and forming six teams composed of healthcare professionals and workers respectively assigned and deployed. 
 
The formed team from CHO, GAD, and ACDRRMO will be supervised by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel. 
 
“We know how susceptible our elderly are to viruses. Our leadership wants to ensure that they are and will be protected from any sickness,” Mayor Lazatin said. 
 
“This is part of our promise that we will continue to put a top priority on the health of our constituents, especially our senior citizens,” Mayor Lazatin added.
 
Mayor Lazatin will personally visit the seniors on their scheduled administration of vaccines at the RHUs.
 
“Bibistahin ko po mismo ang mga seniors natin sa mga RHUs,” Lazatin furthered. 
 
The RHUs are as follows:
 
RHU 1 Sto. Domingo Main Health Center which covers senior citizens from Lourdes Sur, Pulungbulu, San Jose, San Nicolas, and Sto. Rosario;
 
RHU 2 in Lourdes NorthWest catering barangays Anunas, Cuatan, Cutcut, Pampang, and Sta. Trinidad;
 
RHU 3 located in Lourdes Sur East, which can attend to elderly from barangays Agapito Del Rosario, Claro M. Recto, Malabanias, Sta. Teresita, and Virgen Delos Remedios.
 
The RHU 4 which is found in Barangay Balibago, also covers 60-65 years old Angeleños coming from Amsic, Margot, and Sapangbato.
 
RHU 5 in Pandan which covers seniors in Capaya, Mining, Ninoy Aquino, Salapungan, Sto. Cristo, and Tabun.
 
RHU 6 in Pulung Cacutud, with four remaining barangays are under its care — Cutud, Pulung Cacutud, Pulung Maragul, and Sapalibutad.
 
Meanwhile, Dr. Guevarra is encouraging senior citizens to get the provided free vaccines for their further protection as it will serve a shield against viruses.
 
To recall, ever since Mayor Lazatin took office in 2019, all senior citizens have regularly been receiving free anti-flu and anti-pneumonia vaccines.
 
Aside from this, the Office for the Senior Citizen Affairs headed by Eduardo Torres, regularly visiting the elderly via house-to-house to deliver cash aid and  Vitamin C supplements. In 2022, a total of 40,159 registered senior citizens from the 33 barangays in the city received cash aid and Vitamin C supplements.
