๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐ง๐ ๐ โ The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here has partnered with Eagle Cement Corporation (ECC) and Solid North Mineral Corporation (SNMC) for the continued protection and rehabilitation of 581 hectares of graduated National Greening Program (NGP) sites in Doรฑa Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan.
The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo and ECC Plant Manager Genever Aves.
Under the agreement, ECC and SNMC will support the enhancement, maintenance and protection of the adopted NGP sites, with a target survival rate of at least 85 percent throughout the duration of the agreement.
The partnership also seeks to accelerate the rehabilitation and reforestation of unproductive, denuded and degraded areas and encourage the participation of local government units, organized upland communities and other stakeholders in forest protection and sustainable management.
Pablo said sustained partnerships are important in ensuring that gains from government reforestation efforts are maintained beyond the establishment of NGP plantations.
He also emphasized the role of the private sector in supporting environmental initiatives and contributing to efforts toward sustainable development and carbon neutrality.
The 581 hectares covered by the agreement consist of graduated NGP sites under the jurisdiction of the DENR Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Baliwag.
Through the partnership, the DENR, ECC and SNMC aim to ensure the long-term maintenance of the established plantations and contribute to the rehabilitation and protection of forest resources in Bulacan.
The initiative also provides opportunities for local communities and other stakeholders to participate in the sustainable management of the adopted areas, supporting the DENR’s continuing efforts to protect and restore the country’s forest resources.
