CITY OF MALOLOS – “This legacy of FPJ, I will carry this with me into public service, in my service to my fellowmen in Bulacan.”
This was the heartfelt statement of Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando after being honored with the prestigious FPJ Memorial Award for Excellence during the 74th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Annual Awards Night on October 27, 2026, at the Fiesta Pavilion of The Manila Hotel, Rizal Park, Ermita, Manila City.

In his acceptance speech, Fernando expressed gratitude to the FAMAS organization for the recognition, admitting that he no longer expected to receive acting awards after devoting much of his time to public service, which left him with fewer opportunities to pursue film and television projects.
Fernando dedicated the award to the Bulakenyos, his family, and everyone who continues to trust and support him in his journey as a public servant.
Recalling his experience filming “Ang Pagbabalik ng Probinsyano”—where FPJ even offered to help him when he first entered politics as vice mayor—Fernando shared the most important lesson that became etched in his mind and heart.
“Alam mo, Daniel, ang paglilingkod, hindi ka lamang basta magaling, dapat may malasakit sa kapwa,” Fernando shared.
For the governor, the lesson went beyond the world of entertainment and politics. It embodied the kind of leadership that puts people first, regardless of their social standing.
“Kay FPJ, walang mahirap, walang mayaman, walang mababa at walang mataas,” he added.
