Red Tide Update

BFAR Region 3 Office announced that shellfish samples collected from the coastal waters of Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan and Zambales are free from red tide
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatric Resources Region 3 Office announced on Sunday that the shellfish samples collected from the coastal waters of Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan and Zambales are free from the toxic red tide.
 
Also safe coastal areas from Cavite, Las Pinas, Navotas, Paranaque, Bataan, Bulacan, mariculture areas in Infanta, coastal waters of Bolinao, Anda, Alaminos, Sual and Wawa;  Bani in Pangasinan; Rosario and Sto. Tomas in La Union; Walay and Padre Burgos in Quezon, Honda and Puerto Princesa City, Inner Sorsogon, Gigantes Island, Carles, Borongan, San Dionisio in Ilo-Ilo; Altavas, Batan and New Washington in Batan Bay, Aklan.
 
All types of shellfish gathered from these areas are safe for human consumption.
 
Among the areas that are not safe for human consumption are the coastal waters of Roxas City, Sabian Bay, Panay, President Roxas, Pilar, all in Capiz; Dumaguilas Bay, Zamboanga Del Sur, Milagros, Masbate, Irong-Irong Bay and San pedro Bay in Samar, Dauis and Tagbilaran in Bohol and Lianga Bay in Surigao Del Sur.
 
BFAR warned is not to harvest, sell, buy and eat of all shellfish and acetes in these areas as it is not safe to eat.
 
Fish, squids, shrimps and crabs are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking.
