TARLAC CITY (PIA) — A total of 2,357 members of the transportation sector in Tarlac received 10 kilograms of rice each during the first round of distribution under the “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang: Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program” in the province.
Governor Christian Tell Yap said the distribution forms part of the government’s continuing efforts to provide food assistance to vulnerable sectors and help ease their daily expenses.
“Namahagi po tayo ng bigas sa ilalim ng programang Bagong Pilipinas: Bawat Bayan Makikinabang upang makatulong sa pagpapagaan ng pang-araw-araw na buhay ng ating mga kababayang higit na nangangailangan. (We distributed rice under the Bagong Pilipinas: Bawat Bayan Makikinabang program to help ease the daily burden of our fellow citizens who are most in need),” he stated.
Funded through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), the initiative aims to help mitigate the impact of rising food costs on vulnerable communities across the province.
The program is being implemented following the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to local government units to maximize the use of the LGSF by allocating up to 100 percent of their funds for rice assistance to constituents.
During the activity, the Provincial Government of Tarlac also recognized the contributions of transport workers in serving communities and supporting the province’s development.
Yap likewise expressed gratitude to President Marcos for the implementation of programs that provide direct assistance to Filipinos.
“Kasabay nito, taos-puso rin nating kinikilala ang mahalagang ambag ng ating Pangulong Marcos (At the same time, we sincerely recognize the significant contribution of President Marcos,” he said.
