BALANGA CITY — Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and its partners conducted a Juan For Treesilience: A Tree Planting and Tree Growing Activity in barangay Alangan in Limay, Bataan.

This is line with the observance of Philippine Arbor Day pursuant to Proclamation No. 396, series of 2003.

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Executive Director and OCD Administrator Ricardo Jalad said the undertaking is part of the agency’s commitment to sustain and ensure growth of trees planted in the same area in 2019.

Let us continue and replicate this activity not only during Arbor Day, but also to support the National Greening Program of the government and for the benefit of our future generation,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, OCD turned-over farming equipment to Alangan Farmers-Producers Association Inc. to help them maintain and sustain the growth of the trees planted.

Donated items include three brush cutters, three knapsack sprayer, 10 hole diggers, and 25 sacks of fertilizers.

BPI Foundation Inc. likewise donated P50,000 cash to the farmers’ association for the sustainability of the project.
