ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. on June 9, 2022 recognized the hard work and dedication of the 68 daycare workers amid the pandemic, awarding them with cash incentives.
“You all go beyond your duties, being our ground workers during the relief operations, and now in our vaccination drive, where you are serving as our support staff,” Lazatin said, during the awarding ceremony at the Azurro Hotel.
“Sa kabila po ng panganib na dulot ng pandemya, isa po kayo sa mga naging katuwang ng lungsod sa paghahatid ng serbisyo. Kaya naman tanggapin niyo po ang munting handog ng city government sa inyo,” Lazatin added.
The awarding is also part of the city government’s celebration of the Day Care Workers’ Week from June 7 to 11, 2022.
Janet Dizon and Emerita Vino, both daycare workers from Barangays Sto. Domingo and Claro M. Recto respectively, received the highest cash incentives amounting to P18,500. Dizon and Vino have been serving as day care workers for 37 years as Contract of Service personnel.
Dizon said for the first time in her 37 years of service, she received this kind of award and cash incentive.
“Maraming salamat po Mayor Lazatin sa paglingon at pagkalinga sa amin,” she said.
“Sobrang unexpected po nito, ang alam po namin celebration lang,” Dizon added.
This is not the first time that Lazatin looked out for the welfare of the daycare workers, as well as the daycare centers.
Daycare workers received a raise of P1,000 in 2021. Mayor Lazatin also led the distribution of 76 air conditioning units for each center last January 2021 and 76 electric fans on March 2020. He also allotted a P5-million fund for the repair and rehabilitation of the centers.
For her part, City Social Welfare and Development Officer Edna Duaso thanked Mayor Lazatin for going the extra mile for the daycare workers.
“Thank you very much Mayor Lazatin for your efforts to ensure the welfare of our city’s daycare workers,” Duaso said.
