Lazatin orders shutdown of MRF in Mining

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. recently ordered the complete closure of the temporary Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Barangay Mining.

ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. on June 9, 2022 ordered to completely close down the temporary Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Barangay Mining beginning June 15, 2022.

Lazatin said this during his meeting with Chief Adviser and Tactician IC Calaguas, City Engineer and concurrent Environmental Management System Head Donato Dizon, and Pipo Soliman of MRF.

Lazatin explained that the city will no longer use an MRF, instead all of the waste that will be collected will go straight to the sanitary landfill in Porac town.

“We will no longer use an MRF. Nakipag-coordinate na po tayo sa Porac para rito,” Lazatin mentioned.

According to Engr. Dizon, dump trucks will head straight to the landfill on the same day of the garbage collection.

“Bale ang arrangement po, kung ano po ang araw ng kolekta ng truck sa barangay, iyon din po ang araw na dadalhin nila ang nakolektang basura sa Porac landfill,” Engr. Dizon said.

“Ang utos po ni Mayor Lazatin, hindi na gagamitin ang MRF,” he added.

Further, Lazatin continues to encourage Angeleños to practice proper waste segregation.

Aside from this, the Walang Plastikan: Plastik Palit Bigas Project launched by Mayor Lazatin continues to operate via schedule in the 33 barangays.

The city, thru the efforts of Lazatin also acquired a Bilis Walis truck and plastic shredding machines, both a first in Pampanga.
