CITY OF MALOLOS- The voices of Kundiman singers, the eloquence of young Balagtasan poets, and the vibrant movement of traditional dancers came together and showcased Bulakenyo’s artistry and talent in KBS Rewaynd: Kompetisyong Bayan sa Singkaban held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city on Thursday.
More than a showcase of talent, KBS Rewaynd served as a celebration of the province’s rich artistic traditions, giving the younger generation an opportunity to rediscover, appreciate, and carry forward the cultural heritage passed down by their predecessors.
“Mapalad kayo sapagkat ang dugong nananalaytay sa inyo ay dugo ng mga makata at mga bayani ng liping Bulakenyo. Mapalad ang bawat kabataang Bulakenyo dahil tangan-tangan ninyo ang husay at galing ng isang Bulakenyo,” James Santos, Governor Daniel R. Fernando’s representative, said.
In the Katutubong Sayaw category, the Guintong Lahi Dance Troupe of Guiguinto emerged as champion, followed by the Hiyas ng Hagonoy Folkloric Group of Hagonoy in second place, and the Ministry of Action Song Interpreter’s Guild of Bulakan in third place.
For Balagtasan category, Tuktukan Elementary School of Guiguinto won first place, while Hangga Elementary School of Hagonoy placed second, and Baliwag North Central School of the City of Baliwag in third.
Meanwhile, Alliyah Sophia G. Piscasio of the Marcelo H. Del Pilar National High School (MHDPNHS) captured the top spot in the Kundiman category, while Stephen Walter Guttierez of Bulacan State University placed second, and Rhianna Lei Francisco, also MHDPNHS, secured third place.
According to Piscasio, performing in the competition was an opportunity to share her talent with fellow Bulakenyos while celebrating a cultural tradition that deserves to be preserved.
“Mahalaga ang ganitong uri ng kompetisyon para mabalik-balikan po natin ang ipinamana sa atin ng ating mga ninuno para mas mapahalagahan pa po natin ito sa susunod na henerasyon,” the young Kundiman singer said.
Provincial History, Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office OIC-Head Limuel Jan J. Lobederio underscored that KBS Rewaynd goes beyond being a competition, describing it as both a remembrance of the past and a continuation of Bulacan’s living culture.
KBS Rewaynd is part of the monthlong celebration of Singkaban Festival 2026 anchored on the theme “Kultura ng Integridad, Pamana ng Pagkakaisa”.
