Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando,Pampanga — PRO3 Director PBGEN Jess Mendez reminded all police units across Central Luzon to strictly observe existing regulations on the handling of recovered, impounded, and evidence vehicles, stressing that these must never be used for personal purposes.
The reminder follows the directive of PGEN Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr, Chief, PNP, requiring all Regional Directors and heads of concerned offices and units to submit an updated inventory of vehicles under police custody.
Under the directive, the inventory must indicate each vehicle’s identifying details, legal basis for custody, present location, designated custodian, and current status. Any authorized movement, turnover, or release must also be properly documented.
Mendez reminded unit commanders that vehicles placed under police custody remain their responsibility and must be properly safeguarded and accounted for at all times.
He also emphasized that no police personnel, regardless of rank or position, is authorized to use these vehicles for personal benefit.
Any reported unauthorized use, failure to account for vehicles, or falsification of records will be subject to investigation. Personnel found responsible may face administrative or criminal charges, depending on the circumstances and evidence.
The directive places responsibility on police commanders to maintain accurate records and ensure that vehicles remain in their designated custody unless their movement or release is properly authorized.
The top cop of Central Luzon further reminded all unit commanders to exercise close supervision over vehicles under their custody and ensure that proper documentation and accountability are observed at all times.
