Clarkhills gives in to Lazatin’s call of no demolition

Clarkhills Properties Corporation President Oscar Torralba and Clarkhills Lawyer Atty. Gener Endona heed to Angeles City Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr.’s call to stop demolition of some 500 houses in Barangays Anunas and Cuayan.
In a meeting today at the Mayor’s Office, Clarkhills President Torralba agreed to stop the demolition until the Angeles City Human Settlement and Urban Development (ACHSUD) formerly LUPAHO, thru City Councilor Atty. Arvin ‘Pogs’ Suller, finish the tagging of all tenants.
Tagging refers to survey and identification of tenants.
After the tagging, Lazatin said the city government and Clarkhills will sit down again to discuss the “next course”.
“At the end of the day it is the best interest of the public that we will uphold,” Lazatin said.
The meeting was also attended by City Councilor Atty. Suller, Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Secretary to the Mayor Rafael Lazatin Angeles, City Legal Officer Atty. Ralph Macalino, City Administrator Atty. Willie Rivera, Atty. Endona, and Sheriff Elizabeth Marasigan,
To recall, Mayor Lazatin said the city will now expropriate the contested land in Barangays Cuayan and Anunas where some 500 residential houses are located.
The Angeles City Council has passed resolutions that allowed Mayor Lazatin to initiate expropriation proceedings or to purchase parcels of the contested land at Sitio Balubad, Barangay Anunas, for the city’s socialized housing project.
The Angeles City Council led by Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting has passed Resolutions No. 10973, S-2023, and Resolution No. 10972, S-2023, authorizing Mayor Lazatin to initiate expropriation proceedings for the properties located at Sitio Balubad, Barangay Anunas, Angeles City, subject to the failure of the negotiation with the owners – Clarkhills Properties Corporation – and to purchase of parcels of land for the city’s socialized housing project, respectively.
