Despite heavy rains and gloomy skies, Bulacan pushed through with the celebration of its 448th Founding Anniversary on Friday, August 14 at The Pavilion of Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center.
The event highlighted almost 500 years of unmatched heritage, culture, and pride, and officially opened the Singkaban Festival -Bulacan’s grand showcase of art, tradition, and community spirit.
With the theme “Pagpupugay sa Ating Mayamang Kasaysayan, Pagtiyak sa Dakilang Kinabukasan ng Bulacan,” the milestone celebration welcomed Department of Tourism–Region III Regional Director Dr. Richard G. Daenos as guest of honor, who eloquently likened the province to a treasured, timeless book whose 448-year chronicle consists of richly written pages and countless chapters yet to be filled.
“If the 448th Founding Anniversary of Bulacan represents the depth of our roots, the Singkaban Festival represents continuous creation. Singkaban is one of the ways we can write a successful chapter in our history, for a community thrives through the way the present generation continues to utilize, celebrate, and give meaning to its heritage,” Regional Director Daenos said.
Amplifying the day’s significance, Governor Daniel R. Fernando underscored that Bulacan’s profound legacy serves as an enduring testament to the resilience, courage, and determination of its people to surge forward while keeping their hearts firmly rooted in local identity.
“We have a history and a heritage to be proud of and to carry forward. But history is not merely a memory; it is a responsibility,” Fernando asserted, while advocating for balance between rapid modernization and heritage preservation as the province embraces cutting-edge technology and expansive infrastructure.
Adding immense pride to the festivities, the program shined a celebratory spotlight on the Bulacan Dreamers Philippines for their remarkable 2nd Runner-Up finish at the 2026 Little League Senior Softball World Series in Delaware, USA, cementing their status as global ambassadors of Bulakenyo excellence.
The anniversary celebration also served as the official opening of the much-anticipated Singkaban Festival —Bulacan’s premier showcase of arts, culture, and traditions, where it was formally introduced through an audio-visual presentation of the festival’s grand lineup of events.
Tracing back to August 15, 1578, Bulacan Foundation Day continues to stand as a proud annual reminder of a glorious past and a future brimming with limitless potential.
