Barangay Pampang wins 2nd edition of Pogi Ya ing Barangay Ku contest

ANGELES CITY — Barangay Pampang here bested other villages in the inter-barangay contest dubbed as “Gawad Parangal sa mga Pinakamalinis, Luntiang, Ligtas at Kaayaayang Pamayanan — Pogi Ya Ing Barangay Ku” garnering a score of 98.55. 
 
 This is part of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.’s project to promote sustainable programs for participatory governance, environmental management, peace and order, and disaster risk reduction management. 
 
 Mayor Lazatin congratulated all the barangays who devoted their time, effort, and dedication to participate in the contest. 
 
 “More than the contest, the essence of this is to build back better communities and encourage implementation of intensively and extensively proactive, participative, sound, and sustained programs, projects, and activities on socio-economic, environmental, and risk reduction management,” Lazatin said. 
 
 The grand winner received a dump truck worth P4 million, with ₱300,000 cash incentive. 
 
 “Patune mu pu ini na suportado miya pu ing siyudad keng programa na pu keng kalikasan, kaligtasan, kalinisan at luntian. Pasalamat ku rin pu kasi from number two last year meging number one ne pu ing Barangay Pampang,” Barangay Pampang Captain Luis De Luna said.  
 
“Resulta na ning tune dedikasyun at kapagmalasakitan keng luluguran kung barangay na miangat at agyung makisabe keng nanu mang aspetu. Sana pu misundu ya pu ing aumpisan ming proyekto at pamagprogresu ning Barangay Pampang,” De Luna added. 
 
 Following the grand winner is Barangay Cuayan, which garnered a score of 97.7 and got ₱600,000; while the 3rd placer Barangay Balibago, which garnered a score of 93.9, and received ₱300,000. 
 
 Meanwhile, finalists Barangays Mining, Pandan, and Sto. Rosario received ₱150,000 each; semifinalists Barangays Cutud, San Nicolas, Sapangbato, Sto. Cristo, Sto. Domingo, and Virgen Delos Remedios got ₱130,000 each; quarterfinalists Barangays Capaya, Claro M. Recto, Lourdes Sur, Lourdes Sur East, Pulung Maragul, San Jose, Sta. Trinidad, and Tabun took home ₱120,000 each; and consolation prize for non-winner barangays is ₱100,000. 
 
 Among those who served as the panel of evaluators for the Pogi Ya Ing Barangay Ku contest, who personally visited each barangay, were Environmentalist and Veteran Broadcaster Cecile Yumul; Edna Marissa Simbre of Department of Environment and Natural Resources—EMB Region III; Ladislao Puno III of Department of the Interior and Local Government – Angeles City; and Lisa Juco of Office of the Civil Defense Region III. Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Irish Bonus-Llego assisted the evaluators, supervised by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel. 
 
 Bonus-Llego said 30 barangays which participated in the contest include Barangays Agapito Del Rosario, Amsic, Balibago, Capaya, Claro M. Recto, Cuayan, Cutcut, Cutud, Lourdes Sur, Lourdes Sur East, Malabanias, Margot, Mining, Ninoy Aquino, Pampang, Pandan, Pulungbulu, Pulung Cacutud, Pulung Maragul, San Jose, San Nicolas, Sapalibutad, Sapangbato, Sta. Teresita, Sta. Trinidad, Sto. Cristo, Sto. Domingo, Sto. Rosario, Tabun, and Virgen Delos Remedios. 
 
 The criteria for the contest were Urban Farm and Greening Program (35%); Solid Waste Management and General Cleanliness Program (35%); and Disaster Risk Reduction, Peace and Order, Health and Sanitation Program (30%).
