Army distributes relief supplies to earthquake-affected communities in Abra and Ilocos Sur

Earthquake-affected communities in Ilocos Sur and Abra receive relief supplies facilitated by Philippine Army 71st Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion last August 31 and September 1, 2022.
FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija –The 71st Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion in partnership with the Landers Superstore and 1st Civil Relations Group, Northern Luzon facilitated the hauling and distribution of relief supplies to the earthquake-affected communities in the provinces of Abra and Ilocos Sur last August 31-September 1, 2022.
 
In coordination with the 1st Civil Relations Group, Northern Luzon, 300 family food packs which include five kilograms of rice and assorted groceries were distributed in different barangay of Ilocos Sur. Also, benefitted around 237 families.
 
The 67 affected families in Barangay Matibuey are currently staying at the evacuation center in Sitio Lidaoan since the residents can no longer reside at Barangay Proper. In the same manner, the 75 families in Barangay Mapanit are also staying at the evacuation center in Barangay Bessang, the adjacent barangay as ordered by the Municipal Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC). 
 
Prior to the distribution, Kaibigan troopers and respective personnel from the Municipal Police Stations conducted a community awareness and discussed the peace and order situation emphasizing the importance of the EO70 in sustaining the stability of peace in the province as well as the role of parents and community in safeguarding the youth from Communist Terrorist Group influence.
 
Lt Col Bautista expressed his gratitude to the national and local agencies, private stakeholders, and other volunteers for their continuous support and assistance not only in ending insurgency but also in extending assistance to the affected communities during the occurrence of natural calamities.
 
Meanwhile, Major General Andrew D Costelo, Commander of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division said that the assistance to the community is not just during the calamity but as well as giving aid until our compatriots recover from the disaster.
