FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – Soldiers from the 70th Infantry (Matapat at Matatag) Battalion (70IB) of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division (7ID), Philippine Army in collaboration with the local police, City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) and the Local Government Unit of San Jose Del Monte (SJDM), Bulacan conducted an environmental protection and preservation measure in Sitio Katorse, Barangay Kaybanban last October 18, 2022.
The said activity focused on planting bamboo, information drive on natural habitat preservation, sustainable utilization of natural resources and environmental health.
The said activity was participated by troops from the Community Support Program team of Charlie company, 70IB together with the police force from Bulacan led by Police Corporal Marvin C Vallejo, personnel from CENRO of SJDM, Bulacan headed by Engineer Telma Bautista and LGU officials of SJDM, Bulacan.
The activity also aims to build strong partnership between the Army, police, CENRO, LGU and the local community. A total of 500 bamboo trees were planted during the said activity.
In his statement, Lieutenant Colonel Ronnel B Dela Cruz, Commanding officer of 70IB said that the environmental protection and preservation activity is part of building strong connections among members of the local community and showing the firm commitment to the national greening program of the government.
Meanwhile, Major General Andrew D Costelo, Commander of 7ID said, “The Kaugnay Division values this kind of activity as it fosters strong partnership between the Army and various government agencies and other stakeholders particularly the local community in nurturing camaraderie; and love for the environment”.
