CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga β The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) accounted for 187 firearms in just 24 hours under its intensified implementation of the Accounting and Disposition of Firearms with Expired Registration (ADFER) highlighting the sustained efforts of police personnel across Central Luzon to address unregistered and expired firearms.
Of the total, 182 firearms were deposited for safekeeping while five were voluntarily surrendered to police authorities.
The significant turnout within a short period reflects the active coordination, information drive, and field efforts of PRO3 personnel in reaching out to firearm owners and encouraging compliance with existing firearms regulations.
The initiative also helps reduce the risk of firearms being lost, stolen, illegally transferred, or eventually used in criminal activities.
The campaign supports the PNP Focused Agenda of Chief, PNP PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., particularly the continuing drive against loose and unaccounted firearms.
It likewise complements the Unified 911 Emergency Response System by strengthening preventive policing while ensuring faster and coordinated police response whenever emergencies arise.
PRO3 Director PBGEN Jess B. Mendez commended the personnel involved and acknowledged the cooperation of responsible firearm owners.
βThe accounting of 187 firearms within 24 hours shows what can be achieved through focused police work, proper coordination, and public cooperation. Every firearm that is properly accounted for lessens the potential risk to our communities. Together with Unified 911, we are strengthening both prevention and response so our people can feel safer in their homes and communities,β RD Mendez said.
PRO3 will continue its information and compliance campaign across the region and encouraged firearm owners with expired registrations to coordinate with their nearest police station for proper guidance and appropriate disposition.
