The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) provincial office in Aurora earned recognition from the Civil Service Commission (CSC) as a โLuntiang Pook Bayanโ partner for providing the site and technical support that helped advance the 2026 Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) environmental activity.
PENRO Aurora Officer Alfredo Collado personally received the plaque of recognition from the CSC Regional Office during the 126th PCSA Pasasalamat celebration, recognizing the DENRโs contribution to the successful implementation of the environmental initiative.
Through the DENR Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in Maria, Aurora, the agency provided the CSC with a two-hectare area within the Dibalo-Pingit-Zabali-Malayat Watershed Forest Reserve as a permanent planting site for five years.
The DENR also provided native tree seedlings and technical assistance for the tree-growing activity, which brought together various government agencies, local government units, and academic institutions in support of forest and watershed rehabilitation.
Collado said the recognition underscores the importance of sustained partnerships in ensuring that tree-growing activities translate into lasting environmental benefits.
โWe are truly honored by this recognition, but beyond this award, this will be a challenge and a reminder for us to work even harder and continuously seek everybodyโs assistance not only in tree-planting but most especially in tree-growing, which includes maintenance and monitoring of the survival and establishment of the planted seedlings,โ Collado said.
For his part, Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo emphasized that tree-growing should extend beyond the initial planting activity, with regular maintenance and monitoring needed to improve seedling survival and support the long-term establishment of trees within the watershed.
โThis partnership provides the CSC with a dedicated site where participating government employees and stakeholders can continue contributing to environmental rehabilitation over the five-year period,โ Pablo said.
The CSCโs Pasasalamat celebration recognizes partner agencies and individuals whose contributions helped support the successful implementation of its programs and initiatives, including activities that promote environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
