BRGY. KAGAWAD, 2 TANODS ARRESTED FOR SELLING LOOSE  FIREARMS  IN BATANGAS

In compliance with the focused program thrust of the Chief of the Philippine National Police, PGEN Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr., to sustain the campaign against loose firearms, the CIDG intensified its OPLAN PAGLALANSAG OMEGA nationwide.

On March 9, 2026, the CIDG Batangas Provincial Field Unit together with the San Juan Municipal Police Station conducted a law enforcement/buy bust  operation for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) at Brgy. Janao Janao, San Juan, Batangas that resulted in the confiscation of three caliber 45 pistols, and arrest of three male suspects. 

A report that reached PMGEN Robert AA Morico II, the Director of the CIDG, stated that the three arrested suspects  includes an incumbent Barangay Kagawad  and two Barangay Tanod in San Juan, Batangas  were caught while allegedly  selling two loose firearms without the necessary permit, license, or authority to own and possess the said items, rendering their possession and sale illegal.  During the frisking, another caliber 45 pistol is recovered from the possession of one of the suspects. 

The  arrested persons are  allegedly involved in gunrunning activities operating in Batangas.

The CIDG leadership lauds PLTCOL Ganaban C Ali, the Regional Chief of the CIDG Regional Field Unit 4A, and the CIDG Batangas Provincial Field Unit led by its Provincial Chief, PMAJ Deni Mari O Pedrozo for the confiscation of three alleged loose firearms  and the arrest of the three illegal possessors.

The seizure  of the unlicensed firearms underscores the Unit’s commitment  in preventing crimes by accounting and removing from circulation and use all instruments of killing and violence.

The CIDG assures the public that the Group is steadfast in enforcing all the laws, and unyielding on its fight against loose firearms , gunrunners and gun-for-hire group across the country.
