CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The village chief of Barangay Marungko in Angat, Bulacan was shot dead by a riding-in-tandem suspects on Saturday morning.
Report reaching Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., regional police director of Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) identified the victim as Barangay Captain Wenceslao Bernardo of Marungko, Angat, Bulacan.
Initial investigation showed that the victim with his constituents were on a clean-up drive around 6:30 am in Sitio Tugatog, Barangay Marungko in the said town when the two unidentified suspects on board a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle without license plate arrived.
Police said that the backrider immediately shot the victim twice at the back of his head causing his death.
The suspects immediately fled toward the direction of Bustos town.
The victim was rushed by bystanders to the Twin Care Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
