69IB, DSWD-R1 & MENRO, Cervantes Conducted Tree planting activity in Ilocos Sur

A tree planting activity was conducted spearheaded by personnel from the 69th Infantry (Cougar) Battalion of the Philippine Army (PA) held recently at Barangay Remedios Cervantes, Ilocos Sur.
FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – The 69th Infantry (Cougar) Battalion conducted Tree Planting activity at Sitio Cayus, Brgy Remedios, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur on July 07 2022. 
 
The activity was participated by the 69IB under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Marcelo F Valdez Jr, and Department of Social Welfare, Development Region 1 (DSWD R1) through the effort of Municipal Environment and Natural Resources (MENRO) of Cervantes, Ilocos Sur.
 
In connection with the celebration of Disaster Resilient Month 2022, the activity was initiated by the DSWD-Region 1 spearheaded by Ms Nicole Kasandra A Lipawen, Information Officer II and MENRO of Cervantes, Ilocos Sur headed by Engr Cesar Pe. A total of Five Hundred (500) Pine Tree seedlings were planted during the said activity.
 
In his statement, Lt Col Valdez Jr emphasized the importance of taking care of our environment through collaborating with each other. “For us, this activity is not just a project together with our partners but a lifetime advocacy to protect our environment for our future generation. We are also grateful to our partner stakeholders who made this activity possible.” 
 
Major General Andrew D Costelo, Commander of 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division on the other hand, much-admired the effort of the 69IB, DSWD-R1 and MENRO-Cervantes for being diligent to the environment.
 
“Bilang sundalo katuwang narin nito ang pagiging eco-warrior kaya asahan niyo na kami ay laging narito upang tumulong sa lahat ng gawaing pangkalikasan kaagapay ng iba pang ahensya ng gobyerno. MGen Costelo added. 
 
The activity was in accordance with the implementation of the National Greening Program of the government under Executive Order No. 26, S-2011 that aims to protect our environment and natural resources.
