FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – While conducting a focused military operation, the elements of 91st Infantry (Sinagtala) Battalion together with the 2nd Special Action Battalion; Special Action Force discovered 2 alleged lairs of Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-Terrorist on August 18 and 19, 2022 between the boundaries of Gabaldon and General Tinio, Nueva Ecija.
The said hide-out is estimated to have been occupied for at least one (1) week ago by more or less 7 CNT members who are believed to be remnants of Kilusang Larangang Guerilla – Sierra Madre that can be recalled to be dismantled.
The said troops further discovered suspected enemy tracking that leads them to a larger hide-out of the CNT group the next day, the said encampment was estimated to have been occupied for at least three (3) days ago that can accommodate 20 CNT members.
In his statement, Lieutenant Colonel Julito B Recto Jr, Commanding Officer of 91IB lauded the unveiling of the lairs of CNT and emphasize that it is strong evidence that the campaign against terrorism is very effective and the remaining rebel members are becoming weaker and weaker.
Meanwhile, Major General Andrew D Costelo, Commander of 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division reassured that this will be a motivation in becoming more determined to end the local armed conflict in the Area of Responsibility of the 7ID.
“We are closer and closer to a local armed conflict community free, with the collaboration of different government security agencies, in no time it will be in the grasp of our hands.” MGen Costelo added
