18 former rebels surrender 

Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga –  The Central Luzon (CL) police force has achieved substantial gains against insurgency in its month-long efforts on End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC), with eighteen former rebels voluntarily surrendering to authorities. 
Additionally, thirty-four supporters renounced their allegiance to the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).
Among the surrendered individuals is alias Ramon, a former member of Rehiyong Yunit Gerilya (RYG) under Bagong Hukbong Bayan (BHB), who turned in one improvised shotgun and one 40mm (M203) to Olongapo police.
Four partisans of Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (KADAMAY) in Pandi, Bulacan, and others from Bayan Muna – Pampanga Chapter (CFO), Alyansa ng mga Magbubukid sa Gitnang Luzon – Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (AMGL-KMP), ANAKPAWIS, AMC – Mabalacat Chapter (Aguman Dareng Maglalutang Capampangan), Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid (LMB) – AMGL Nueva Ecija Chapter (Peasant Women Sector), Pampabansang Katipunan ng Magsasaka (PKM) of Panlalawigang Alyansa ng Magbubukid sa Aurora (PAMANA), Milisyang Bayan of KLG TARZAM, and other underground mass organizations were also part of the voluntary surrender.
The surrendered items included various small arms and ammunition, homemade shotguns, revolvers, explosives, and ordnance, including a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG), 40mm HE grenade rounds, M67 Frag Grenade, rifle grenade, improvised explosive device, and subversive documents.
“Our campaign against local insurgency has continuously achieved positive results through community engagements. Building trust and partnerships with the local population fosters a collaborative environment where information can be shared, and suspicious activities can be reported promptly. We work together in creating a unified front against terrorism towards peace and progress,” Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) Director PBGen Jose Hidalgo Jr. stated.
