Terrorist WGF – AMPIS Arm Cache discovered in Ilocos Sur

Arm cache that was discovered from West Guerilla Front-Abra Mountain Province in Ilocos Sur by the 71st Infantry Battalion of the 702nd (Defender) Brigade on July 3, 2022.

FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – The 71st Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion under the supervision of 702nd (Defender) Brigade discovered an Arm cache allegedly owned by West Guerilla Front – Abra, Mountain Province, Ilocos Sur (WGF – AMPIS) last July 03, 2022 at Sitio Ramut, Zone 7, Brgy Salincub, Santiago, Ilocos Sur.

The discovery of the said arm cache resulted to the confiscation of one (1) M16 rifle, eight (8) magazines, 140 ammunitions of the same firearm, and one (1) bandolier. The said war materials were brought to the Headquarters of 71IB for proper disposition.

The firearm was buried by the former Vice Commander of WGF – AMPIS “Ka Junel”. The success discovery of these firearms is the result of continuous appreciation of the former rebel for the conduct of Community Support Program (CSP) of the Philippine Army and other government agencies.

Meanwhile, BGen Krishnamurti A Mortela, Brigade Commander of 702nd Bde commended the unearthing of the arm cache. Also, BGen Mortela is grateful to the support of other line units of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division.

MGen Andrew D Costelo, Commander of 7IB lauded the effort of the 71IB and 702nd Bde. “In continues effort of our troops, we can eventually end local armed conflict in our area of operation, with the support of the line units of 7ID and other security agencies in no time we can attain our goal.
