The Taguig Lady Generals opened their campaign in the 2022 WNBL Season with a 65-49 win over Stan Quezon last Sunday, March 13 at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena.
Taguig limited Quezon to only two points in the third period to pad the lead to 49-29 after making 25 points in that quarter. The Lady Generals had a 24-point lead at one point, the largest in the contest.
Snow Penaranda scored 17 points, and Gemma Miranda had eight points, six rebounds and five assists in just 13 minutes of play for the Lady Generals. AJ Gloriani also had eight points and added four assists.
The Lady Generals are aiming to go back to the finals this season after placing runner-up to the Paranaque Lady Aces, who are on leave for this season.
The Lady SparTAN led, 27-24, at halftime but failed to sustain their firepower on their way to a defeat in the game played in their home province.
Jade Valenzuela, Jollina Go and Ericka Hortaleza each had nine points for the Lady SparTAN.
The 2022 season of the WNBL drew five teams including the Philippine Air Force, Philippine Navy and Philippine Army.
The tournament will be a double round robin with the top four teams playing in a best-of-three semifinals and the winners will move to a best-of-three finals.
