PRO3 nets 636 loose firearms 

CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) continues to intensify its campaign against loose firearms, resulting in the accounting of a total of 636 firearms from February 24 to April 26, 2026 through sustained law enforcement efforts across Central Luzon.

Based on consolidated reports, a total of 239 short firearms and one (1) light weapon were confiscated during various police operations. 

Meanwhile, 299 short firearms and 13 light weapons were voluntarily surrendered by concerned citizens in support of the government’s intensified campaign.

In addition, 83 short firearms and a  light weapon were deposited for safekeeping, bringing the total number of firearms accounted for to 636.

These operations also led to the arrest of 221 individuals for violations of existing firearms laws, further reinforcing PRO3’s firm stance against the proliferation of illegal weapons in the region.

PRO3 Regional Director PBGEN Jess B Mendez lauded the efforts of operating units and the cooperation of the public in achieving this significant accomplishment.

“This accomplishment reflects our sustained and focused efforts to rid our communities of loose firearms. Every firearm accounted for is a potential threat prevented. We will continue to intensify our operations and encourage the public to support our campaign toward a safer Central Luzon,” Mendez said.

He further emphasized that the campaign against loose firearms is aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda of Chief, PNP, PGEN Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr., particularly on enhanced police operations, public safety, and community engagement.
