Pampang Public Market vendors exchange 799 kilos of plastic to rice

ANGELES CITY — A total of 799 kilos of plastic were collected from vendors, porters and stall owners from the Pampang Public Market on September 1, 2023 through the Walang Plastikan — Plastik Palit Bigas project of the city government launched by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.

Mayor Lazatin said that these 799 kilos of plastic were exchanged into 799 kilos of rice by those who participated in the project.

According to Lazatin, this is the first time that the Walang Plastikan — Plastik Palit Bigas project visited the Pampang Public Market as the city government aims to encourage vendors to practice waste segregation at source, as well as to reduce if not eliminate the use of plastics.

“Unang pagkakataon pong nabisita ng Walang Plastikan ang Pampang Public Market at asahan po nilang masusundan pa po ito para pagpatuloy pa po nila ang waste segregation at source,” Lazatin said.

To recall, Mayor Lazatin ordered the members of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office and Environmental Management System to conduct information, education, and communication campaign at Pampang Public Market as the city government informs them of the proper ways to segregate their waste.
