NLEX Corporation has set a new record in its corporate history after being awarded four ISO certificates for its compliance with international standards in quality, environmental, occupational health and safety, and road traffic safety management systems.

NLEX meets the international requirements of the Global Certification of Compliance program for transport safety for implementing a Road Traffic Safety Management System. NLEX continues to reduce the environmental impacts of its operations in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 14001:2015 or the Environmental Management System.

In a virtual awarding held last January 25, NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi L. Bautista said the certifications highlight the commitment of the company in providing efficient service and keeping the NLEX-SCTEX safe for all road users.

“These achievements are the results of our hard work and persistence to elevate the quality of our management systems and in the process, achieve excellence in everything,” he said, highlighting that the recognition is not the end of the company’s aspirations but only a pitstop reminding the firm to continue working relentlessly and implementing the best ISO practices for the benefit of all its stakeholders.

NLEX Corp. earned the current versions of ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System), ISO 45001: 2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) and clinched the distinction of being the first tollway firm in the country to secure the ISO 39001:2012 Road Traffic Safety Management System (RTSMS) from third party auditor DQS Holdings GmbH.

The certificates, which are valid until November 2024, cover the design, development, construction, operation, and maintenance of expressways.

NLEX receives the ISO 9001:2015 recertification for implementing and maintaining a Quality Management System.
NLEX demonstrates its commitment to employees’ well-being as it fully complies with ISO 45001:2018 or Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

Bautista noted that bearing the four ISO certificates also means the company has to be more responsible as customers and other stakeholders are expecting exceptional performance.

Amidst the challenges and disruptions brought by the pandemic, the company has been able to sustain its quality operations, serve the customers, care for the welfare of employees, and fulfill its duties towards the environment and community.

In addition to the DQS certificates, DQS Certification Philippines Inc. Managing Director Romeo Zamora also awarded NLEX with IQNet certificates of the said standards. DQS is one of the leading certification bodies for management systems worldwide with over 30 years of experience in management system assessments, while IQNet is an international network of partner certification bodies with numerous global partners.

“We are humbled to take part in your achievement. This only proves that the organization is really committed and passionate in improving your management systems,” Zamora said.

The tollway company has been ISO-certified since 2008, working and implementing different processes with streamlined objectives and providing the highest value to its customers, partners, and employees.

NLEX Corporation is a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road arm of the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
