Kaugnay troops gave assistance to the 7.3 Earthquake victims

FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – A 7.3 Magnitude earthquake was felt and left a trace of destruction in wide-range area of Luzon this morning July 27, 2022. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Lagangilag, Abra.

The different line units of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division immediately coordinated to the respective Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices for search, rescue operations, and other humanitarian assistance.

Major General Andrew D Costelo, Commander of 7ID instantly gave concrete directive to use all the resources of the Kaugnay Division to help the affected victims.

The 24th Infantry (Wildcat) Battalion organized three disaster response teams and immediately proceeded to Bangued, Abra to help in the search and retrieval operation together with composite teams from 102nd Infantry Battalion, 5ID and Civilian Active Auxiliary (CAA).

On the other hand, the 71st Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion directly provided assistance to the populace of Lidlidda, Ilocos Sur and rescue operations to the victims at Vigan, Ilocos Sur.

“The 7ID always ensures that the Kaugnay Troopers are equipped with knowledge and skills that is very essential in search and rescue operations during calamities. The Kaugnay Division regularly conducts trainings and seminars to guarantee the capabilities of the personnel in emergency response situations.” MGen Costelo said.
