DPWH fast tracks completion of flood control projects in San Leonardo

CABANATUAN CITY — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is fast tracking the completion of three flood control projects in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija.

 

Implemented by Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office, the P91.57 million infrastructures were funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act.

 

“We are expediting the construction of a 135.2-lineal meter flood control structure along Tabuating Creek in barangay Tabuating and a 180-lineal meter revetment wall along the Peñaranda River in barangay San Roque,” Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad said.

 

Also ongoing is the rehabilitation of a 222.4- lineal meter flood mitigation structure along the Pampanga River in barangay Tabuating.

 

The town of San Leonardo is bordered by three active waterways – Pampanga River, Tabuating Creek, and Peñaranda River, making it prone to flooding incidents especially during typhoon season.

 

“DPWH aims to complete the construction of several flood control structures to strengthen the defense of low -lying communities against the adverse effects of flooding,” Trinidad added.
