Officials of Barangay Maugat in San Antonio, Nueva Ecija, expressed their satisfaction with the rehabilitation of a multipurpose facility and the construction of the community stage at the adjacent covered court by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
According to Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Y. Trinidad, a total of P3 million from the 2023 national budget was allocated for the improvement of the one-storey MPB and the enhancement of the village covered court.
“It is our earnest desire to provide the public with safe and substantial facilities that offer an all-season venue for community-based activities and programs, as well as to facilitate a safe and temporary shelter for affected families during man-made and natural disasters,” Trinidad said.
Trinidad also emphasized, “Improving the facilities at public venues offers a wide range of benefits not only to residents but also to the community as a whole, as it promotes community engagement, and fosters a sense of pride and identity among residents of the beneficiary barangay.”
Meanwhile, Assistant District Engineer Robert Jay Panaligan further reiterated that, unlike in the past, the decrepit condition of barangay infrastructure facilities can have several negative effects, such as limiting the delivery of basic social services.
Panaligan also mentioned that improving community-based infrastructure can significantly improve the lives of the locals by offering much-needed services and support in addressing challenges.#
