CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the 838-lineal meter section of the 2.5-kilometer Malino-Suclaban Bypass Road in Pampanga.
This infrastructure will provide an alternate route for motorists to and from the city of San Fernando and municipality of Mexico.
DPWH Pampanga 1st District Engineer Almer Miranda disclosed that P105 million was allocated for the four-lane access road from the 2023 national budget.
Developed in phases, it initially involved road opening at a cost of P25 million, followed by concreting of the 15.4-meter road with a budget of P60 million.
“The third phase, with an allocation of P20 million, includes the installation of stone masonry works, thermoplastic pavement markings, and drainage blocks,” Miranda explained.
Motorists can anticipate a reduction in travel time between the city of San Fernando and Mexico by 30 minutes when the bypass road becomes passable, down from the usual one-hour travel from Barangay Malino to Barangay Suclaban.
“Travelers heading to Angeles City currently use the Calulut-Baliti Road and Panipuan-Camuning Mexico Road before reaching the Manila North Road, where common chokepoints will be bypassed,” Miranda added.
The project will ensure that motorists and commuters will have an additional route for hassle-free travel while also paving the way for potential economic growth through developments and improvements along its path.
