Cougar Troopers Nourished Former Rebel in her Pregnancy 

FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – The 69th Infantry (Cougar) Battalion under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Marcelo F Valdez Jr, Commanding Officer assisted “Ka Abby” during her pregnancy until she gave birth to her first-born baby boy at Bessang Pass Memorial Hospital on August 21, 2022. 

“Ka Abby”, a former platoon medic of KLG AMPIS, 24 years old and a resident of Barangay 73, Caloocan City who voluntarily surrendered on April 07, 2022 to the Joint Intelligence Operatives of 69IB, together with Intelligence Operatives of Police Provincial Office, Mountain Province, 702nd Brigade, 73rd Military Intelligence Company at Barangay Ambong, La Trinidad, Benguet.

In his statement, Lt Col Valdez Jr said: “Ka Abby” could tell us the malevolent nature of communism and their deceptions based on her own experience under the CPP-NPA-NDF. We always welcome those who present themselves to the authorities.”

“I encourage the remaining members of the CPP-NPA-NDF to return to the folds of the law and avail the government programs through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) and live a peaceful life with their families.” Lt Col Valdez added.

Meanwhile, Major General Andrew D Costelo, Commander of 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division lauded the sincere effort of 69IB in nourishing “Ka Abby” during her pregnancy and emphasized that the troops are always open to rebels who wish to return and live a peaceful life along with the government.
