Business Sectors in Nueva Ecija made aware on CTGs Extortion Scheme 

FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – A total of 54 participants from the Business Sectors were informed on resource generation through extortion scheme by the Communist Terrorist Group (CTGs) in an information awareness drive conducted by the Army’s 84IB and PNP in Carranglan, Nueva Ecija last week.  
 
1st Lieutenant Arnold A Quiñon, CMO Officer of 84th Infantry (Victorious) Battalion, 7th Infantry Division presented the security updates in Nueva Ecija and sited extortion activities of CTGs that can affect peace and security in the province. 
 
“Extortion is an act of collecting money and other logistical items by threat, force, violence, or intimidation to an individual or entity. Business sectors are being targeted by these Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) to generate funds for communist terrorism in the country. Therefore, we are soliciting your support and cooperation to stop and end CTGs extortion activities.” 1Lt Quiñon said. 
 
During the activity, “AKA May” a former rebel, shared her personal experiences on how CTGs systematically conduct their extortion activities and further discussed to the participants about the Resource Generation Framework and Extortion Scheme of the Communist Terrorist Group. 
 
Hon Mary B Abad, Municipal Mayor of Carranglan was also present during the activity and expressed her utmost appreciation to the 84IB and PNP for the endeavour of informing business sectors on how to prevent, detect, and deny CTGs extortion activity. 
 
On his interview MGen Andrew Costelo PA, Commander, 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division said: “Let us be aware of the deceitful act of our enemy (NPA), do not hesitate to tell the authorities especially the Philippine Army in times you encounter extortion. We are here to help and protect you against them.”
