BULACAN PPO HOSTED A POLICE-MEDIA RELATIONS SEMINAR 

CAMP General Alejo S Santos City of Malolos — Twenty four Chiefs of Police from the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, along with their respective Police Community Relations (PCR) and Public Information Office (PIO) PNCOs, attended a one-day seminar on Media Relations at the Balagtas Hall, Hiyas Convention Center in the City of Malolos, Bulacan, led by Provincial Director PCOL Charlie A. Cabradilla on Wednesday.

Cabradilla said that the media are important partners of the PNP in disseminating information and telling the public about what has been accomplished. He also highlighted how important it’s for police officers to be equipped with the appropriate knowledge and information to report on what’s going on in their area, as well as to make sure the information is accurate and up-to-date while keeping good relationships with our media partners.

The participants learned about basic media relations, broadcasting, media law and ethics, and cyber libel. They were also given tips and important points about writing press releases and the rules for releasing public information.

The lecturers and facilitators were Mr. Rommel Ramos, Public Information Officer of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), GMA Stringer, and a member of the Bulacan Provincial Advisory Council (PAC); Atty. Julius Victor De Gala, Head, Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO), and also a member of the Bulacan PAC; and Mr. Leuvert Catalan, Consultant of Radyo Kapitolyo. The Media Relations Seminar is a project of the Provincial Advisory Council, which is led by Ms. Maricel C. Santos as the PAC President.

APD CABRADILLA said that the training will benefit Bulacan PPO personnel by raising awareness of the need of maintaining consistency and integrity while interacting with the media, particularly when sharing public information.

The Bulacan PPO gives value-quality service; therefore, the media relations seminar will be one of the Bulacan PPO’s best practices in equipping its personnel with the skills to become effective and efficient Public Information Officers.
