CITY OF MALOLOS – Championing the drive for a healthier province, the Provincial Government of Bulacan honored outstanding local government units, barangays, nutrition workers, and partner stakeholders during the ‘Panapos na Gawain sa Buwan ng Nutrisyon’ on July 31, 2026, at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center.
Leading this year’s awardees was the Municipality of Bulakan, which was named Natatanging Bayan sa Nutrisyon and received a plaque of recognition and a P100,000 cash prize while the Municipality of Guiguinto secured second place with P75,000, and the Municipality of Doña Remedios Trinidad placed third with P50,000.
In the Natatanging Barangay sa Nutrisyon category, Barangay Pinagtuluyan in Norzagaray emerged as the champion, receiving a plaque and P30,000 cash prize. Barangay San Francisco in Bulakan placed second with P20,000, while Barangay Bagong Barrio in Pandi finished third and received P10,000.
Recognized as Natatanging Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon was Joana Marie S. Marquez of Barangay San Francisco, Bulakan, who received a plaque and P7,000 cash incentive for her dedication to advancing nutrition programs at the grassroots level.
Meanwhile, Maricar M. Parone of Bulakan, Bulacan was honored as the Natatanging Pambayang Tagapagpaganap ng Nutrisyon, receiving a plaque and P8,000 cash prize for her exemplary leadership in implementing municipal nutrition initiatives.
The Provincial Government also conferred Service Awards to nine Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon (LLNs), three members of the Technical Working Group (TWG), and Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Mary Jane De Leon of Bustos, Bulacan. Each awardee received a certificate of recognition and P5,000 cash incentive in appreciation of their invaluable service and commitment to improving the nutritional well-being of Bulakenyos.
During the ceremony, the Provincial Green Banner Seal of Compliance was likewise awarded to the municipalities of Angat, Bocaue, Bulakan, Bustos, Doña Remedios Trinidad, Guiguinto, Marilao, Norzagaray, Obando, San Ildefonso, San Miguel, and San Rafael for successfully meeting the provincial nutrition standards and demonstrating sustained commitment to nutrition governance.
The Municipalities of Plaridel and Santa Maria were also recognized with the Nutrition Honor Award – Maintenance, receiving plaques and P5,000 each for maintaining excellence in their nutrition programs.
Adding excitement to the celebration was the awarding of winners in the Bahay Kubo Cooking Contest, which showcased creative and nutritious dishes using locally available vegetables. The Municipality of Calumpit claimed the championship with P12,000 cash prize, followed by the Municipality of Bulakan in second place with P10,000 and the Municipality of Santa Maria in third place with P8,000.
In addition, Governor Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Governor Alexis C. Castro extended additional cash incentives for the cooking show contest, effectively doubling the winners’ prizes in support of the province’s nutrition advocacy.
