CITY OF MALOLOS — Bringing together participating schools and student-athletes, the Provincial Youth, Sports, and Development Office (PYSDO) kicked off the 3rd season of the Bulacan University and Collegiate Athletic Association (BUCAA) with a team parade, a cheerdance competition, and a best muse contest on September 21, 2026, at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.
Special guests Asi Taulava and the NLEX Road Warriors inspired the young athletes with an exciting meet-and-greet.
Participating in this season are 26 senior basketball teams, 16 junior basketball teams, 18 volleyball teams, and four cheerdance teams, with La Concepcion College and STI College Santa Maria receiving the Best in Uniform and Best Muse awards, respectively, in the senior division, while Richwell Colleges, Inc. and La Consolacion University of the Philippines earned the same distinctions in the junior division, and Jesus Is Lord Colleges Foundation was named Best in Uniform in volleyball, with each award receiving a P20,000 prize.
Declared as the Champion in the Cheerdance Competition two years in a row, Colegio de San Gabriel Arcangel took home the P100,000 prize, followed by Bulacan Polytechnic College as First Runner-up with P75,000, Baliwag Polytechnic College as Second Runner-up with P50,000, and Best in Uniform with additional P20,000, while La Concepcion College got the Third Runner-up with P30,000.
Governor Daniel R. Fernando reinforced the value of the annual provincial sports program, noting its key role in developing Bulakenyo athletes.
“We established BUCAA because we believe that a Bulakenyo athlete should not have to leave Bulacan just to have the opportunity to grow. Right here in our province, there is a place for them to train, compete, learn, and dream bigger,” Fernando expressed.
Beyond athleticism, Gabrielan Angels Pep Squad coach Valentin Teodoro Sapanta emphasized the role of said competitions in nurturing young people.
“This is a very important competition because it allows us to showcase the talents of San Joseños and Bulakenyos and steer the youth away from harmful activities; it enables us to focus and build a sense of family,” Sapanta said.
As the games get underway, the season serves as a launchpad for young Bulakenyos, and help them strengthen their discipline, develop teamwork, and humility while inspiring the next generation to pursue excellence both on and off the court.
