Bong Go extends support to a thousand farmers in Sen. Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat

After assisting a thousand farmers in Lebak, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, in coordination with Sultan Kudarat Governor Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu, reaffirmed his commitment to the agricultural sector by extending assistance to 1,000 more farmers in Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat on Friday, January 31.

The relief activity, held at the municipal gymnasium and in partnership with local government officials, was a testament to his unwavering support for Filipino farmers.

Joining the senator’s team in the distribution were Maguindanao del Sur Governor Mariam Sangki-Mangudadatu and Vice Mayor Rafael George Flauta III, who expressed their gratitude for Go’s continuous initiatives that uplift the lives of communities especially in Mindanao.

Go emphasized the crucial role of farmers in ensuring food security and economic stability.

The senator stressed that he remains steadfast in supporting agricultural workers through legislative measures aimed at improving their quality of life.

As a member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Go has advocated for the reinforcement of agricultural support systems, recognizing the vital role of farmers in ensuring food security.

His legislative contributions include being one of the authors of Republic Act No. 11901, or the Agriculture, Fisheries, and Rural Development Financing Enhancement Act of 2022

Go also co-sponsored and co-authored RA 11953, or the New Agrarian Emancipation Act, which focuses on condoning loans accrued by agrarian reform beneficiaries, including interests, penalties, and surcharges.

He also filed Senate Bill No. 2117, targeting comprehensive crop insurance protection for agrarian reform beneficiaries, alongside SBN 2118, which seeks to enhance insurance coverage and services for farmers if enacted into law.

During the activity, farmers received grocery packs, shirts, vitamins, and snacks. There were also select recipients of basketballs, volleyballs, and fans.

Meanwhile, through Go’s initiative and collaborative efforts with the local government, the farmers received financial support.

Despite the country’s challenges on achieving food security, Go assured farmers that their concerns remain a priority. He also reiterated his commitment to advocating for policies that promote agricultural sustainability and ensure that farmers receive the necessary resources to thrive.

Through initiatives like these, the senator reaffirmed his pledge to stand by the country’s agricultural workers, recognizing their indispensable contributions to national progress.

Go, who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
