FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – The 70th Infantry (Matapat at Matatag) Battalion of 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, PA together with the personnel of Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM) conducted lecture to the students of Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) on September 08, 2022.
The said lecture was led by the personnel of Bravo (Braveheart) Company, 70IB, and 305th Community Defense Center (CDC), 3rd Regional Community Defense Group (RCDG) of the ARESCOM regarding the 3rd National Security Awareness drive to 428 National Service Training Program (NSTP) students of BPSU.
The lecture aims to empower the students regarding the national security and deceptive recruitment of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) in all University that the primary target audience is students or youth sectors thru propaganda against the government.
Corporal Francisco discussed the main objective of the said information drive to the students present and raise awareness and boost their knowledge concerning national security against CTGs operating in various universities.
After the lecture the students underwent practical exercises to capacitate them in identifying threats in universities and barangays; and come up with the best solution to prevent CTG recruitment activities in schools and communities.
In his statement, Lieutenant Colonel Ronnel B Dela Cruz, Commanding officer of 70th IB lauded the active participation of the reserve command and the students of BPSU, “Makikita mo na gusto talaga nilang matuto hinggil sa panlilinlang at panloloko ng mga rebeldeng grupo, nais nilang matuto upang maiwasan na ma-recruit ng mga makakaliwang grupo.” Lt Col Dela Cruz ended.
On the other hand, Major General Andrew D Costelo, Commander of the 7ID reminds the student to always be mindful of the organizations inside and outside the university they are planning to join.
“Let us help the students avoid CTGs in their universities and barangays, let us equip them with proper knowledge for them to use when they encounter elements of CTGs recruitment team.” MGen Costelo added.
