Inauguration of the Digital Writers’ Guild

The Malolos City Hall hosted the official oath-taking ceremony for the newly formed Digital Writers’ Guild. What began as an initiative to foster a supportive network for Bulacan’s journalists culminated in a landmark event, underscored by the formal presence and endorsement of Mayor Christian Natividad. The guild comprises respected voices in Philippine media, including columnists, writers, reporters, and correspondents for prominent national newspapers. Many members also manage influential social media accounts, sharing content on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to amplify Bulacan’s stories to a global audience.

The group was led by President Ace Cruz, accompanied by Vice President Theofel Santos, Secretary Manny Dela Cruz, Treasurer Maverick Marcelo, Auditor Verna Santos, and a team of advisers and members, including Vic Billones III, Manny Balbin, Carmela Reyes, Eric Silverio, Freddie Velez, Jose Erwin Bunag, Ricardo ‘Dick’ Mirasol III, Allan Roi Casipit, Eloi Sam Sil, Louie Angeles, Lalaine Santos, Sam Estrope, Thony Arcenal and Ronalyn Cruz as Assistant Secretary.

Mayor Natividad welcomed the attendees; his joyful demeanor and genuine interest in the guild’s mission set a positive tone for the event. For nearly an hour, the group discussed the role of media in community development, during which the mayor pledged full support for responsible journalism and press freedom in Malolos.

As the conversation progressed, the Mayor surprised the group with an invitation to lunch at one of the city’s most prestigious restaurants, where the celebration continued throughout the afternoon.

This event marks a significant milestone for the guild. Being hosted at a premier venue and receiving such strong support from the Mayor of Malolos City underscores the organization’s growing influence. This is merely the beginning of a promising future for the journalists of Bulacan.
