BUSTOS, Bulacan — Bustos Dam has temporarily stopped releasing irrigation water to prevent standing rice crops from getting water logged due to rains from Habagat.
The dam is being managed by the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and primarily gets it irrigation water supply from Angat Dam and complemented by the local river on its upstream river system.
It started releasing irrigation water supply to Bulacan farmlands on July 16 this year.
However, with the rains brought by Habagat and later enhanced by typhoon Cruising, the irrigation supply was temporarily halted to prevent the more than 1,200 hectares of standing rice crops planted this 2nd dry cropping season from being inundated by rain water and irrigation supply.
