Marcos leads groundbreaking for P80M OFW hospital extension in Pampanga

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Hospital and Diagnostic Center Extension Building in Sindalan, City of San Fernando, Pampanga on December 10.

The P80-million project involves the construction of a three-storey facility that, once completed, will expand the medical services offered by the hospital for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), their dependents, and referred patients.

According to Marcos, the extension will cover a total floor area of 1,800 square meters, significantly increasing the hospital’s capability to deliver quality healthcare services.

“This expansion is a vital step in ensuring that our overseas workers, who contribute significantly to the country’s economy, have access to the healthcare services they deserve,” Marcos said.

Marcos also noted that Region III was the second-largest source of OFWs in 2023, highlighting that the project is expected to benefit not only those from Central Luzon but also from nearby regions.

Also present at the ceremony were House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Pampanga 3rd District Representative Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales, Jr., Pampanga Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administrator Arnell Ignacio.

Other key officials from DPWH Region III, including Assistant Director Melquiades Sto. Domingo, Planning and Design Division Chief Arthur Santos, Pampanga 1st Assistant District Engineer Alfie Lejarde, Regional Public Affairs and Information Officer Prince Kenneth Irabon, as well as representatives from OFW Hospital, were also present during the ceremonial groundbreak.
