DPWH inaugurates P23M school building in Santa Maria

Officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Bulacan 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) formally turned over a new two-storey, six-classroom school building at Garden Village Elementary School (GVES) in Barangay Pulong Buhangin, Santa Maria recently.

District Engineer George Santos said on Friday that the project was implemented under the Department of Education’s (DepEd) 2024 Basic Educational Facilities Fund (BEFF).

The inauguration and turnover ceremony was held last September 12 and graced by Bulacan 6th Legislative District Representative Salvador Pleyto, with DPWH Bulacan 2nd DEO OIC-Assistant District Engineer Ace Caper and office section chiefs, DepEd Regional Director Ronnie Mallari, as well as representatives from the provincial government, municipal office, and school administrators.

The newly constructed 608-square-meter structure will cater to the needs of students and faculty, providing modernized, more conducive facilities that contribute to a more engaging and efficient learning environment.

“This new school building will help ease overcrowding and improve overall learning conditions by providing modern, comfortable classrooms for our students,” Santos remarked.

He also added that the P23.88-million project is expected to significantly reduce the current strain on existing school facilities, ensuring more students have access to better learning spaces.

Meanwhile, GVES Principal Josefino Saclao expressed heartfelt gratitude to DPWH for their swift and efficient construction, as well as to DepEd and everyone involved in making the project a reality.

“We are deeply grateful to DPWH for bringing this project to completion on time. This new building will provide a much-needed space for our students, allowing us to offer them a more comfortable and conducive environment for learning.” Saclao said.
