ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. on June 12, 2024 dedicated the city’s Philippine Independence Day celebration not just to the national heroes but to all government employees who serve as his backbone in delivering quality public service to Angeleños.
Lazatin said this during the city’s celebration of the 126th Philippine Independence Day at the Museo ng Kasaysayan ng Pilipinas.
“[Pero] maliban sa ating mga Pambansang Bayani, gusto ko ring bigyang-pugay at pagkilala ang ating mga modernong bayani – ang ating mga kawanj ng gobyerno sa Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Angeles na katuwang ng inyong lingkod sa paghahatid ng dekalidad ng serbisyo sa mga Angeleño,” Lazatin delivered during his message.
Lazatin was joined during the celebration by Adelio Angelito Cruz, Assistant Secretary, Office of the Consular Affairs-Department of Foreign Affairs, First District Rep. Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, Vice Mayor Vicenta “Vicky” Vega-Cabigting and the City Councilors, Deputy Regional Director for Administration Police Brigadier General Benjamin Sembrano, Department of the Interior and Local Government City Director Yvette Cosio, Angeles City Police City Director PCol. Amando Mendoza, and Bryan Anthony Paraiso of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
Lazatin also mentioned the notable awards the city government received during his administration, where he noted the hard work and dedication of the city government employees towards achieving the awards.
Among these awards were the Seal of Good Local Governance, SubayBAYANI, Gawad Kalasag, Gawad Makabata, National Finalist for Walang Gutom through the Walang Plastikan: Plastik Palit Bigas project; and one of the largest urban economies in the world, ranking 5th in the Philippines, according to the UK-based thinktank Oxford Economics.
“Ngayong araw pong ito, binibigyang pugay natin ang walang sawang dedikasyon ninyo sa inyong sinumpaang tungkulin para sa bayan,” Lazatin added.
Present also during the celebration are Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Secretary to the Mayor Rafael Angeles, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, Department Heads and Chief of Offices, and the Lazatin Senior Staff.
