Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga β Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) swiftly arrested the suspect in a fatal shooting incident in Baliwag City, Bulacan, within three hours after the crime, following a rapid follow-up investigation and hot pursuit operation.
The incident occurred at around 7:00 a.m. on August 2, 2026, along Purok 2, Brgy. Piel, Baliwag City, where an 80-year-old man sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The gunman immediately fled the scene aboard a motorcycle.
Responding police units promptly secured the area while investigators launched an intensive follow-up investigation. Witness interviews, the collection of physical evidence, and the review of available closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage provided crucial leads that helped establish the suspect’s identity and trace his movements after the incident. Close coordination among operating units further enabled authorities to locate and apprehend the fleeing suspect without delay.
At around 9:30 a.m., personnel from the Bulacan Forensic Unit’s Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) processed the crime scene and recovered four fired cartridge cases of undetermined caliber and one fired bullet. These pieces of evidence will undergo ballistic and forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
The sustained police operation led to the suspect’s arrest at around 10:00 a.m., within three hours after the shooting.
Recovered during the operation were a 9mm Smith & Wesson pistol loaded with one magazine containing one live round of ammunition, a white Yamaha Mio Gear motorcycle believed to have been used as the getaway vehicle, and clothing allegedly worn during the incident.
The recovered firearm, ammunition, and other physical evidence will be subjected to further ballistic and forensic examinations. Appropriate charges for Murder are now being prepared for filing before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in the City of Malolos, Bulacan.
PRO3 Regional Director PBGEN Jess B. Mendez said the immediate arrest highlights the importance of fast and focused police work, where every lead is acted upon without delay to prevent offenders from evading justice.
