ANGELES CITY — In the continuing efforts of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. to provide programs for animal welfare, a total of 28,474 pets have received their free anti-rabies vaccination from the local government here since January 2021.
This was shared by Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, overseeing the house-to-house anti-rabies vaccination of the City Veterinary Office led by Dr. Christian Arcilla in the 33 barangays which serves 24,011 pets — 18,534 dogs, 5,476 cats, and 1 rabbit.

Manuel said that apart from the vaccination in the barangays, the veterinary office at the City Hall served 2,877 pet owners, with 3,283 dogs and 1,180 cats.
Manuel, an animal lover herself, shared that this initiative has been a program of the city government as soon as Mayor Lazatin took office, supervised by his Chief Adviser IC Calaguas.
Mayor Lazatin wants to promote responsible pet ownership among Angeleño households by the free programs being provided by the city government, Calaguas says.
Amid the pandemic, the city government allotted P5 million for the free neutering and spaying of 1,000 pets, as well as free anti-rabies vaccines for 30,000 pets in the city.
A total of P10 million was appropriated for the improvement of the city hall Animal Pound to ensure the welfare and comfort of rescued animals. (CENTRO NEWS)
