Tanggol Bayi, an association of women human rights defenders, is outraged at revelations that cult leader and human trafficker Apollo Quiboloy reportedly “gifted” women and girls to his crony, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.
This disclosure comes as no surprise, given Duterte’s well-known misogyny and contempt for women. With his garbage mouth, Duterte notoriously ordered his fascist troops to shoot women NPA guerrillas in their vaginas. With the same garbage mouth, he once condescendingly wolf-whistled a woman journalist. And rape? No surprise there either. He has already publicly admitted fantasizing in his garbage mind about raping an Australian woman missionary, and even packaged this into a “joke” that became a staple of his campaign spiel.
Tanggol Bayi holds that the likes of Quiboloy and Duterte have no place in any civilized society. We demand justice for all their victims. And we demand that they be held accountable for the multiple counts of violence they have perpetrated against women and girls who they treated like chattel to be bought, sold, bartered, used and abused.
